FAQ
Why Skydive?
- Puts all your earthly fears into manageable perspective.
- Inspires such complete focus of attention, that all other
worries, aggravations and frustrations are forgotten.
- Charges you with such energy and spirit, that vitality lost to
the mundane world snaps back with invigorating speed.
- Inspires freedom of spirit.
- Attracts some of the most interesting people on earth.
- We've been doing it for so long, that to us, skydiving is
mostly fun.
How long will it take to make my first jump?
- For a tandem, plan 1/2 day
- For a solo jump, plan 1 full day
What kind of training do I get?
- First Jump Course is a 6-7 hour ground school course.
- You will then go to 3000-3500 feet in our aircraft.
- We will dispatch you there and the instructor will deploy your
main parachute right away.
- Using a radio from the ground, we will help you to steer your
parachute for a safe landing in our landing area.
What do I wear?
- Comfortable clothing and athletic shoes.
Can I get pictures of my skydive?
- Sometimes. Video and 35mm stills are available at an
additional charge when a photographer is available.
What will the skydive feel like?
- The sensation of freefall is more like flying than falling.
- The parachute flight is quiet and inspiring.
How will it feel when the parachute opens?
- You will definitely know that something is happening.
- Few people have complained of any discomfort.
What kind of parachute will we use?
- The parachutes used are specially designed, large
"ram-airs".
- A "ram-air" is a high-technology square parachute,
as opposed to the old-style round parachutes.
What happens if the parachute doesn't open?
- In the very unlikely event that the main parachute doesn't
open properly, there is a reserve parachute in the top of the container which has been
inspected and packed by a CSPA certificated parachute rigger.
- All of our reserve parachutes are equipped with reliable and
modern AAD's (Automatic Activation Device) for your enhanced safety. This is a backup
system only.
How long does the skydive last?
- For a tandem, 30 to 40 seconds of freefall and 3 to 5 minutes
under the parachute.
- For a solo jump, approx 3-5 seconds of freefall and 3 to 5
minutes under the parachute.
Isn't the landing like jumping off a two-story building?
- NO!
- If that were the case, there would be no skydiving, because
everyone would have broken legs!
- In the early days of sport parachuting, landings were
sometimes quite hard.
- The new "ram-air" parachutes of today allow landings
that feel equivalent to hopping off a step 1-2' high.
Will I be scared?
- Maybe, and maybe not.
- You will definitely feel a surge of excitement and
anticipation before the jump...this is a normal part of the experience.
- During the jump itself, you'll probably feel a thrill that
you've never experienced before - enjoy it!
