Finished: Kirby: Canvas Curse and 200th post
Okay, this took me a bit longer than I thought, but I finally finished Kirby: Canvas Curse a couple of days ago. I didn't write because I was trying to work on getting 150 stars in SM64DS (I'm up to 82 after getting to 76 and then wanting to make sure I didn't mess up by missing the 8 red coins in the courtyard ghosts). Anyway I'm here to write my final impression of Kirby: Canvas Curse and then tell you what my next big Now Loading project is going to be. Also this is the 200th post, I was going to do something special for it, but I can't be too bothered, I mean, it has only been 4 months since our 150th. At 250 or 300 I will do something cool for that.

Kirby: Canvas Curse (KCC from now on) is a game that seems like it'd be so simple, that anyone that plays videogames a lot, wouldn't even like. But it is actually a game that requires a bit of skill to be good at. The idea of KCC is Kirby bumps into this witch (Drawica) who turns all of Dreamland to a painting. Kirby then get's sucked into a portal and frees a magic paint brush, which flys to YOU. The thing is in this painting world Kirby is stuck in ball form and needs your help to get him through the levels. You use the Stylus (the magic brush) to draw lines, poke at enemies to stun them and pretty much do everything in the game, in fact none of the DS's buttons are used at all in this game.

Getting used to the stylus takes a bit of getting used to, at first you really wish you could press some buttons. But once you get the idea through your head, it's a really fun way to play the game. Kirby constantly rolls and you have make sure that he avoids obsticals by drawing magic lines with the stylus. If you want to make him go the other direction, you just draw a line and block him. If you poke Kirby he will dash or use one of his copied powers, like freeze, beam or missile. After you make it through the three areas of a stage, you get to play a dash jump game which is quite enjoyable. You poke at Kirby to dash him, then when you get to the end you quickly draw a ramp for him and keep poking at him for maximum distance. Once you clear all three stages in a level, you get to choose from three types of Boss Games, these game have two levels and you'll do each twice during the course of the game.

The first game is a block breaking game against Kracko, the second game is a mine cart race against DeDeDe and the final game is a drawing test, where you have to connect lines to draw a picture. They are fun and after you finish them twice you unlock them to mess around with in a subgames menu. The final boss is pretty neat and you use all the cool tricks to fight her. Also after you clear a level, it is added to a mode called Rainbow Run and this allows you to time-trial a specific stage in each area and tackle a level while using the least amount of magic paint (to draw lines). Both are pretty addictive and earn you medals which you can spend on new features. I guess I should also mention that you can find more medals in the main game's levels and by doing well at the subgames.

I think that about covers it, I enjoyed the game and getting some of the medals and even through some of the levels takes some skill with the stylus. I still want to play through with the bonus characters and get at least all the main game medals, so I have to work to do later on. Below is the final score for Kirby: Canvas Curse.

With that done it's on to the announcement of my next project for the Now Loading. I call this next project: Project SMS 120, as in I want to get all 120 shines again in Super Mario Sunshine, it still digs me that I don't have that save still, so I going through all the trials and tribulations that it takes to accomplish this goal. So here is how it's going to work, I'll create a post with "cards" that have lists of each levels shines and blue coins as I progress through the game, I will turn the faded ones solid, by simply updating the images. So there is only going to be one post and I'll edit it with the latest updates as I progress through one of the most frustrating tasks I have ever done and will do again. Project SMS 120 will commence starting on Monday. Happy 200 posts, here's to another 200! Loading Complete!
